as you know i usually cover contemporary bold patterns, but i hope you'll allow me to indulge myself just this once with my holiday patterns. these are ancient greek paintings , but i think they can still offer inspiration to us modern designers as they are so stylised.
The colors and forms here are spectacular, and the images you chose to share really demonstate that link between contemporary and ancient art. I remember some line from my first art history course that basically said the furhter we go forward, the closer we get to the past....or something like that :)

These are really amazing. Were they in a museum? They also remind of patterns from the 1930s and 1940s.
