NEW YORK TRIP - kinokuniya

next up its the wonderful japanese bookshop kinokuniya. since i last visited new york in november 06 they have moved to huge new store overlooking new york's beautiful bryant park (behind the library). three floors are filled with books, magazines, accessories, cds, dvds, and stationery. i bought a pile of japanese books in here, and a cute t-shirt. this is a must see store for any designers trip to nyc. kinokuniya is at 1073 sixth avenue. they have 9 stores throughout america, 56 in japan, and a store in sydney.

  4. Sheer delight I am going to hyperventilate.
I missed the new Kinokuniya last time I was in NY and went to the old small one.
The Merci France book looks like a winner.

  6. I am so happy to see this post. I am on my way to NYC for the National Stationery Show on Monday. Like your other reader I tried to find the old store in January when I was in the city and couldn't find it. I can't wait to see the new location. Thanks!

As a New Yorker I've been to Pearl River and Kinokuniya many times and readily agree that they're both worth a visit. Actually, tomorrow after work I'm meeting a friend from Tokyo at the cafe at Kinokuniya and look forward to doing some shopping afterwards! Your photos have given me a few things to look for that I've not seen before. I love your blog and look forward to seeing more of your New York favorites!
