HOMEWARES - sian elin
sian elin thomas recently launched a new collection of textiles, at tent london including cushions, tea-towels and wallpaper. with her company sian elin now based in her native wales she has created a new range of patterns to mirror her fascination for the built environment. time spent in israel, recent travels to india and throughout the mediterranean are all reflected in her new collection. influenced by the islamic and moorish architecture around her, sian’s designs feature bold hand-drawing and colourful detail. she is especially interested in how textiles and wallpaper can bring the outside world to the inside. sian worked as a children’s book designer for penguin and oxford university press for five years. but at the start of 2012, she left full-time employment to fulfil a long-term ambition and undertook business training and received a grant from the arts council of wales, which allowed her to manufacture and exhibit her work.
