The contest received a wonderful array of design entries from over 170 applicants from 39 different countries. Entries were shortlisted by Make it in Design co-founders Rachael Taylor and Beth Kempton and they were absolutely thrilled that so many people want to create surface pattern designs and recognise Make it in Design as a fantastic way to do that. I then had the pleasure of picking a winner from the chosen shortlist. As the standard of entries was so incredibly high it was decided that there would be not just one winner, but THREE full scholarships and SEVEN runner up prizes.
So the WINNERS are...
My choice of overall winner was Claire Mounier
I felt Claire’s Safari design (above) demonstrated some great drawing and colour skills, and her dinosaurs (below) showed she has a fun quirky way of thinking. These are brilliant qualities to have as it gives Claire a unique personal style that will stand out from the crowd.
Make it in Design co-founder Rachael Taylor selected Becky Dinnage as her overall winner -
Rachael said “Becky’s use of colour is so bold and impactful – LOVE it! Your work has a fabulous fresh and commercial feel to it and I cannot wait to see more”.
Make it in Design co-founder Beth Kempton selected Nirosha Ambagahawatta as her overall winner -
“I love the the sense of movement and rhythm evoked in these delicate structures by Nirosha which dance off the screen in a beautiful and playful way"
The winners can now get ready to launch your surface pattern design careers in 2019 with a free place on all 4 modules of The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design and complimentary access to leading trend website WGSN for 180 days.
RUNNERS UP
Because of the high standard of entries Make it in Design have selected 7 runners up who will each receive a free place on the self paced Module 1 class with access for 12 months.
