above : alex farmer is a freelance print and embroidery designer with her own studio in east london where she works away with her dog teddy for company. alex works on various textile projects, commissions (the latest for marc jacobs in paris) and her own collection of prints and illustrations of which have sold to high street and designer clients.above :cecillia hidayat is a freelance illustrator based in indonesia, focusing on childrens illustration the sweet pattern above was designed as valentine's gift wrapping paper for capricorn publishing in jakarta, indonesia

below : sophie scott is a textile designer who graduate around a year and a half ago. through her label 'my house design' she has produced these colouful hand screen printed cards among other things.

below : chocolate creative is a home-ware and interiors brand based in south london. the designer behind the brand is margarita lorenzo who has created a series of designs featuring hand printed textiles, greetings cards and mugs.

below : pattern designs from bouclé SF aka schauleh sahba. shauleh has a love of fashion and design that stems from her mother, who is a dressmaker, and her grandfather, who was a textile merchant. you can see more design on her website here.

below : clare shields makes and sells limited edition giclee prints on beautiful heavy weight papers measuring 12" x 16" and 11" x 14". the subject matter is birds and flowers which clare creates from ink and pencil drawings as a starting point and then develops them digitally in photoshop. available here on etsy.

2011 'SOCK IT TO ME' CONTEST

DESIGN A SOCK COMPETITION

$500 CASH PRIZE you may remember last years print & pattern competiton to design a pair of socks for 'sock it to me'. well they enjoyed your designs so much that its now its back for a second year. three winners will all recieve cash prizes and first place will have their socks go into production in the autumn catalogue of sock it to me.
here are all the details...........
FIRST PRIZE - $500 cash, 10 pairs of socks
SECOND PRIZE - $100 cash, 5 pairs of socks
THIRD PRIZE - $50, 3 pairs of socks

ENTRIES MUST BE RECIEVED BY 4th MARCH
'sock it to me' an american company based in portland, oregon are looking for great designs suitable to go onto socks. you can think of any patterns and motifs you fancy, but keep it to flat colour, and enter them as jpegs or psd files (150dpi). just download the required template from here.
you can submit up to 5 designs and email them to : design@sockittomesocks.com
entries can be from the UK, USA, or anywhere in the world.

terms & conditions :

Designs must be the artist’s original creation and shall not be copies or duplicated from previously published art. The design is limited to a maximum of five colours. All colours must be flat and solid, with no shading, blending or half-tones. Simple is good. Patterns are good. Check out the 'sock it to me' website for designs that have worked in the past. The designs must fill the template provided. Sock It To Me reserves the right to alter the design if necessary. Sock It To Me will not assume liability for any damage, loss or theft of any entry. Submit your name, phone number and email along with your design.

the judging process :

the top 25 designs will be chosen and put on the sock it to me facebook fan page. your votes will determine the 10 finalists and then an esteemed panel of judges will select the final 3. winners will be announced on march 18th.

FABRICS - amy schimler

'animal party too' is a new fabric range by amy schimler which will be released by robert kaufman next month. sales of the new collection called will benefit quilts for kids, an organization that makes quilts for children in hospitals. you can see all the prints and background to the designs at amy's blog here.
