There has been some beautiful work being produced by students of a portfolio challenge course recently. FolioFocus is a 10-week online portfolio building workshop hosted by RiseDesignandShine.com
and here we have a selection of prints and patterns created during the last session. The talented classmates designed to set briefs, based on subject matter and themes that Art Directors are typically looking for in an art licensing portfolio. The next FolioFocus sessions starts on Monday 6th February and runs for another intensive and fun 10 weeks. The course does cost £65.00 but could be well worth it if you are struggling to build a portfolio without any briefs to inspire you and add the discipline of a schedule. you'll also have the very useful pressure of a showcase among your peers. See more online here at FolioFocus. Our first three artworks are by Lisa Lane..

I know many P&P readers also work on graphic design projects or take an interest in the subject so I thought I would mention these nicely designed books from Counter Print which feature trademarks and symbols. The books were designed by the studio Leterme Dowling and feature famous logo symbols. Each book contains over 400 motifs and logos with everything from abstract geometrics to stylised animals. The books cost £7.50 each from Amazon UK or Amazon USA.
For today's Friday eye candy I have some snapshots taken during a visit to Heals last month. These designs were spotted in their Tottenham Court Road store which opened in 1818 and is known for contemporary design. Here are a few things that caught my eye as I passed through the ground floor.
