BHS - shop online

at last BHS (british home stores) have launched an online shopping website so you can now browse and buy from home. it is early days though so expect more products to follow as it grows. i fell for this aqua blossom textile shower curtain, which cost me just £15.00. other areas to watch are the kelly hoppen lines, remember the kh home launch featured here back in november?. below are a few choice prints from the all new bhs website.

PLACEMENT PRINTS - t-shirts

its 24 degrees and sunny here in the UK, so print & pattern today is all about t-shirts. one of the best graphic tee websites has got to be threadless. not only can you browse the great designs (in glorious close up !), but you can also vote on submissions - plus theres the thrill of thinking one day you might enter a design yourself. im really keen on this design below called 'understanding birdsong' by raid 71 - if you like it, why not vote here. if you dont have time to visit the site here are some of my top picks of interesting illustrations.

T SHIRT PRINTS - for kids

more great t shirt motifs, this time for smaller people by glug baby.

T-SHIRTS - graniph tokyo

i saw this lovely illustration above on i make things which i found through a blog called dots & spaces . it was commissioned for graniph, another t-shirt site well worth a peek.

STORE VISIT - the hambledon

outside of london there is an amazing shop in my home county of hampshire. the hambledon in winchester is a beautiful shop where you can see a lot of great designs under one roof. in london you would have to trawl around many different shops to see all these brands but in the hambledon you can just step across the store. so who do they stock ? well the list is huge but to name a few : cath kidston, orla kiely, sukie, and atelier lzc. new arrivals in at the moment include : at the top of the post, foil embossed sketchbooks from luckybird, and further below knitted egg cosies from black rabbit. also new, and featured above, an address book from sukie. if you can i really recommend a visit to the shop, there are many different departments and you can get stylish gifts here for men, women, children, and home.

URBAN OUTFITTERS - visit

next up a few snaps taken in urban outfitters on oxford street. there was a real 80's vibe running through the store including lots of neon colours. thankfully the cushion prints remain a little more sedate with yellow being the hot colour of the season.

also from urban outfitters online in the uk, sticker wall clock & singing bird, funky melamine plates, and mibo mugs.

PAPERCHASE - a store visit

this week im going to report on some of my shopping trips, and some of the patterns that are to be found on the high street. kicking off with a visit to paperchase in tottenham court road. this is my favourite shop, and regular readers will know im a huge fan. they are loads of stand alone branches and concessions in borders, but the tottenham court branch is their flagship. it has three large stories of top notch homewares, art, craft & design equipment, and of course papergoods. have a virtual browse around now with my spy snaps, and if you can, visit a paperchase soon. also this week i'll report what was in my paperchase shopping basket, and tommorow im in the supermarkets hunting for more print & pattern.

PAPERCHASE - store visit contd.

the latest paperchase promotions include 'home on 1' where the entire first floor has been given over to homewares - including the latest fashion wall decals. (image above). the other campaign they've had running during the easter school holidays was 'go bananas'. a series of cute style accessories featuring a funky chimp. they have a scrapbooking dept on the 2nd floor where they stock papers, stickers etc.

way back in october last year i featured a 'designers needed' add for the rag & bone bindery to create a new range to show at the new york international gift fair in january. luckily they had lots of response and these beautiful books are the result. they havent named the chosen designer as far as i know, but we do know that they are from california and they are highly talented. the rag & bone blog is always interesting to read, and you can see all the pics from the show here. or buy these beautiful books from their website here.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - osborne & little

its part three of london design week, and we begin today with osborne & little. like designers guild this is another of the 'off piste' showrooms that is not actually in chelsea harbour. instead you'll find it opposite dg on the king's road. my favourite design here for both trend and colour was the yellow flower print called 'quinta'shown at the top of the post.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - colefax & fowler

the colefax & fowler showroom is home to the brands jane churchill, manuel canovas, and larsen. the wintertree wallpaper, from larsen at the top of the post was especially notable as a trend we've been following for a while now here at p+p for bare tree motifs.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK -harlequin

harlequin harris is an excellent showroom packed full of great patterns, but it also one of the smallest in chelsea harbour, making it far too crowded and cramped to see the beautiful designs at their best. hence a slight lack of images. this year they had used their wallpaper designs in the windows to make cool faux lampshades.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - misc

a round up of miscellaneous photos taken at the show.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - peter jones

as part of london design week peter jones always lay on a good window display at the sloane square department store. the green theme of the show was carried through here as well. teamed up with browns and creams for a fresh spring look. also featured was plenty of pale blue & brown.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - villa nova

my london design week report continues today with villa nova (a brand from top fabric company romo). the romo showroom is my favourite at chelsea harbour and now with this brilliant new villa nova collection in there as well, its amazing. i had a total pattern adrenalin overload as i walked in the door. the designers at romo/villa nova are fantastic. i wish i knew more about this person or team, wouldnt it be great to read an interview with them !

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - romo

next up, and still in the same showroom here are some images from the new romo collections. there were some fab new additions, and lots of the same great colour palettes as we saw in the autumn show - yellow& grey, red & taupe, and striking black & white. another brand from the same stable to look out for is kirkby house.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - borderline

great new floral prints on wallpaper, in the most unusual colour palettes by florence broadhurst as seen in the borderline showroom.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - cole & son

new wallpaper designs from cole & son.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - show report

im back after a weeks holiday feeling refreshed and ready to post my report on london design week. the show takes place twice a year in march & september and is the launchpad for all the top fabric & wallpaper companies new collections. i attended the show on tuesday 13th and took plenty of photos to show the patterns on display. the venue graphics this time had a green colour scheme and a bird & tree design. as usual all the lamposts in the area had cute little shades on. the venue is the chelsea harbour design centre, but showrooms on the kings road also take part and visitors are shuttled between them in courtesy transport. over the next few days i'll be posting up my show pictures.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - designers guild

first up from the show is designers guild, who take part in london design week from their kings road showroom. inside its as if one of their brochures has come to life, if you were ever thinking of buying some DG products then a visit here would be essential. the way collections have been put together in displays is stunning. even the courtyard garden has been decorated. so sit back & enjoy two posts of designers guild magic.

LONDON DESIGN WEEK - dg part 2
