vintage textiles

like many vintage scandinavian pieces these designs have found their way onto the web via japan. you can enjoy browsing these inspiring designs here at pitea. they also have great ceramics (see the next post below). something i love about the japanese sites for this kind of thing is that they always have great photos that show all the detail.

vintage ceramics

regular readers will know that there are many japanese collectors sites for vintage ceramics, and i love to look at these for inspiration. many of the motifs popular in the 50's,60's and 70's are back in style, and can adapted and used as a starting point for new ideas. all taken from pitea.

graphic tableware

a lot has happened over at absolute zero degrees since i lasted posted their wallpaper back in april. theres the new range of playtime tableware (shown here) launching under the mini moderns brand that will soon have its own website. also coming soon is tray bien - a range of laminated trays, plus new cushions to go with their fabulous bees & swallows wallpaper.
besides all these wonderful products, and a graphic design business, dont forget absolute zero are also authors of the 'communicating with patterns' books - the stripes one here was recently highly praised by creative review magazine.

cut-outs

at first glance these may look like ordinary postcards, but they are in fact cut-out badges and brooches. designed by contemporary jewelery designer lindsey mann.

illustration

above are the fantastic illustrations of jason o'malley , a well known editorial illustrator, and creator of 'handsome devil cards'. i especially love the fresh approach on the christmas cards using geometrics and contemporary colours.

W2 are a female design duo with 15 years experience behind them, and they've brilliantly updated the traditional willow pattern to create this contemporary range of tableware.

manchester based tc design produce these distinctive cards featuring graphic flowers, geometrics, and for kids, cute characters. i love this kind of style, especially the stem flowers.

designer and fine art graduate lisa jones produces the cutest little cards, like those above, plus sophisticated geometric gift wrap, below. some of her cards are hand screened, but luckily for those of us on a budget their is an equally cool machine printed 'wigwam' range. check the website for loads more cards and to find stockists.
