hello little one is a stationery and prints company for children. it was founded by craig harford who after spending 10 years in the uk greetings card industry was inspired by his two young daughters to start the business. hello little one offer contemporary personalised announcements, invitations and bedroom/nursery wall art. as seen online here.
'surface//philia' is the brand of designer helen stevens. helen graduated with a first in BA (hons) textiles and surface design graduating in 2002. her design portfolio concentrates on abstract prints, patterns and illustrations for surfaces within fashion, interiors, card and giftware. helen also works as a lecturer at degree level and organises events with her designers marketplace project. you can see her freelance pattern portfolio online here.
the paper bicycle design studio recently set themselves a challenge called 'daily pattern' where everyday they draw a topic and everyone in the office makes pattern! cccasionally they grab a friend to do one as well. you can follow what the team are up to each day online here.
sugarush is an online store which decirbes itself as "stuff that's fun and full of colour".based in norwich in the UK they design and produce gifts, cards, stationery, bunting, cotton bags, gift wrap and personalised products to make you smile. i loved their collage designs which feature retro fabrics like the bunting above. sugarush aim to inject a sense of fun and colour into everything they create and its well worth having a browse around their interesting online shop.
sunny side up is an exhibition of work by illustrator andy smith which is currently running at the soma gallery in clifton, bristol. this summer show will include a set of 12 new large artworks, hand screenprinted by andy and featuring his distinct hand lettering and visuals. andy studied at brighton university and the royal college of art and is now based in hastings where his clients include the guardian, orange, and nike. open now the exhibition runs until august 20th and can be seen online here at soma.
designer sarah palmer specialises in greetings cards and wedding stationery, but after reading the print & pattern book she decided to work up some of her creations into patterns. designs show here include shoes and retro sweets all of which you can find online at pink shoes art.
