I have been into Paperchase during my summer break to see what is currently in store and found this gorgeous floral design 'Garden' (above and below). Also catching my eye where the folky 'Spring Garden'. the light sketchy 'Doodle Flower' and several striking Cacti designs. Here is my first post of highlights from the latest arrivals spotted in my local store.
I thought I would do something a bit different today and look for inspiration in fine art. These colourful geometric pieces are by Ian Scaife who studied fine art at the Liverpool College of Art and at Goldsmiths in London. His work is created using screenprinting with the designs cut by scalpel from paper stencils. Because Ian uses newspaper he can often only create 5-10 editions before the ink moistens the stencil and breaks it down. Here are some of my favourites chosen for simplicity of shape and combinations of colour.
For my next batch of inspirational pieces I had a good look around Saatchi Art. This contemporary art online store that is open to all artists is vast and even after a couple of hours I hadn't seen all it has to offer, but I had a good attempt to find the best and boldest geometric works. All the artists are named in the image title if you want to follow up on anyone, but here are my picks....
