Vanessa Binder is an illustrator & Surface Pattern Designer. Vanessa says she is 'a curious creative' and has worked in a variety of roles and industries, from graphic design, fashion and illustration to installation art and theatre. Vanessa develops original prints, surface pattern designs, and hand lettering for various formats and products, from home furnishing to stationery gifts and fashion. She works both traditionally and digitally. She feels her work is sweet and naive but with a good pinch of salt and pepper.Vanessa tends to embrace organic, symbolic, wonky and whimsical things but is also very much devoted to the Bauhausesque. I've long been a fan of Paper Salad cards, they are so vibrant and joyful with their bold colours, neon and hand painted style. So I was really pleased to see that my local branch of Sainsbury's had introduced a whole range. One entire end bay was full of lovely Paper Salad cards so I couldn't resist reaching for the camera. Hats off to the Sainsbury's buyers who are on fire these days with great choices on home, kids and greetings.
