BOOK - pattern + palette 3

im back from my summer break today - and to break me back into the swing of things gently im posting a couple of books i bought whilst i was away. pattern + palette 3 is the third in this excellent series, and this time rockport have turned to the fabulous british design gillian blease. if you have bought the previous books then you will already be familiar with the way these books work. the book is divided into six sections based on colour groups and pattern styles, and each page demonstrates how sets of colours will look together. see pattern+palette 3 by gillian blease here on amazon uk or amazon usa. im off now to start plowing through the backlog of emails : )

BOOK - 1960's fashion print

the second book i bought was a new title from marnie fogg - 1960's fashion print. you may remember marnie's excellent book a few years ago called 'print in fashion'. this latest release is a fabulous sourcebook of flower power designs in wonderful colour and detail. designers featured include celia birtwell, marimekko, barbara hulanicki of biba, and fabrics from the alexander henry archives. perfect for designers, retro fabric fans, and students. see it here on amazon uk or amazon usa.

ON HOLIDAY - back on 18th august

its that time of year again and im off for my annual two week break. i'll be back here on august 18th fully refreshed an raring to go as we move into the autumn design season. sadly im not going away anywhere this summer due to the annoying credit crunch. but wherever i do go i will keep an eye out for great prints & patterns. dont forget to browse those archives if you are in need of a design boost - see you in a couple of weeks !
