visiting stores at this time of year you find that they are dominated by christmas goods, so its not the ideal time for trend research, but even whilst on holiday i cannot switch off from patterns, so as i was shopping i was also occasionaly snapping the things i saw. these pictures are from crate & barrel at 650 madison ave, new york. crate & barrel's christmas is delivered courtesy of marimekko who seemed to provide most of their range of gift wrap & cards.

I used to work for Crate&Barrel as sales to even working on their store visuals. Yes, Marimekko supplies Crate with yards of fabric hung in their stores. In addition to that, Crate also has an in-house graphic design team. I had the oppty to intern for their graphics dept (in Chicago), but somehow it didnt feel right and never pursued it. Its a great company to work for considering I worked for them for over 5 years, and with accumulated profit sharing, I left with a *really* nice check.

I would like to start a blog like this myself, since as far as I know there are no blogs devoted to things featured on your blog and in blogs such as design sponge, etc. in my home country. I was wondering, how do you get the shops to allow you to take pictures? :) Because here, quite a few shops or product designers don't allow it which is a bit discouraging.

I love the collection of patterns you have found! I love getting inspired by beautiful colors and shapes. The Ikea here in Moscow always has amazing napkins and plates... wish they would let me take pictures. Love your site.
