this has nothing to do with prints, I'm just very confused... because the word "aurinko" means "sun" in finnish. Does it mean something in some other language? I mean, it's japanese company, right?

it could be that they wanted to use a finnish word - vintage scandinavian design is hugely popular in japan.
i just looked at their logo and it shows two little girls holding up a sun - so i would guess it is the finnish word :)
It's very funny: my grandmother had some of the mug on the latest photo with the red pattern... and my mother had some of the yellowish-ochre one, but hers were in purple…
