I have an issue with the comment on the Licensing part- I have been licensing for over 17 yrs and never do I sell the rights to companies- LIcensing is when companies have the rights to "use" a designs for a period of time with a royalty fee-but "you" own the rights period!! otherwise its something completely different.

I hope those who are buying this book realize this!

Wow, under the page about Licensing, is this a misprint? As an artists licensing her work to manufacturers for over 25 years, we never "SELL" the right to anything...we are licensing our original artwork to a company which is like leasing or renting, giving them the right to use the work for specific products for a specific time frame... we retain the ownership to the work and NEVER sell it. The whole basis of licensing is to create an imagine that can be used by multiple companies for multiple products. I cannot imagine that the first sentence in this book by a licensing agent telling what licensing would suggest such a major error and terminology such as using the word SELL.

Ellen, Are you looking at the photo above? Note that I say that you are selling the right, not selling the art. You are selling the right to a company to use your art. In the book I go on to say that "Licensing is fantastic because you have the opportunity to sell (the rights to) your art to multiple companies in different categories and leverage income on the art". Then I give an example of licensing the right to use your art on, say, zipper bags with an advance fee and a royalty. There are several pages on licensing in the book that clarify further.
