HOME DECOR - harlequin amazilia

Harlequin have released a brand new collection for spring 2015 is named after the native South American hummingbird, Amazilia. The collection channels the current trend of bringing the outdoors in and features tropical influences from fashion. Louise Collis from the Harlequin studio has been working on this eye-catching botanical collection for the last 18 months. Louise explains her inspiration here "The initial idea began with research into fashion and interior trends; I noticed a pronounced tropical influence developing in fashion, with the use of exotic imagery and opulent hues, whilst in interiors there is a move to darker, sultry tones and more maximalist prints - large scale tropical flowers, stylised foliage and botanical references." Her research began at Kew gardens, studying tropical birds and insects and also experimenting with various painting techniques. Colour boards were created to differentiate the palettes within the range, ensuring that the colours reflected the botanical range whilst remaining on trend. All of the designs were painted by hand. You can see all the Amazilia fabrics and wallpapers online here at Harlequin.
