KIDS PROJECT - johnny and andy

Artist Emily Rees has recently taken a step back from design recently to go into part time teaching. She has been busy organising Art Week at Auriol Junior School where Emily tasked all the children to create a dot, with no recognisable imagery, just pattern. The Art Week is loosely based on a book called 'The Dot' by Peter Reynolds and the idea behind their dots was to show them that they are all unique, talented and beautiful. Emily was so blown away by the children's artwork that as well as the usual school tea towels she wanted to try and do something a little further reaching and show the children what can be done with beautiful art and design. Emily has created a few patterns with their artwork and she would love to see if the wider design community would want to get behind the designs and indeed the message they represent and purchase the dots or patterns. School art budgets are getting smaller and smaller, often less that £1 per child for the whole year. Any purchase of the dots would go directly back into the school art budget to ensure they have equipment and materials to keep these kids creating. They LOVE art, and Emily feels that given the right encouragement and resources, many will get into art and design in the future. If anyone is interested or would like more info they can visit www.johnnyandandy.co.uk/school or email at johnnyandandyart@gmail.com
