DESIGNER FOR HIRE - diane hutton powell

Diane Hutton Powell is a UK based designer and illustrator working at reigniting her career after a long break where she worked in visual merchandising and then had her son Oliver. He is now in full time pre-school so Diane is able to concentrate on building her client base again. For Diane everything starts with a pencil drawing, which she then layers with colour and texture using traditional materials; watercolours, coloured pencils and pastels. All these elements are then brought together digitally, which allows her to replicate her love of collage without all the cutting and sticking! Alongside this more illustrative style Diane also works digitally to produce surface pattern designs with a more graphic look, however she still maintains a hand drawn feel by scanning original drawings rather than using digital brushes. Diane is now a Designer for Hire and her portfolio includes florals, conversational and editorial style pieces that show her versatility as a designer.
