paperchase

new autumn season designs are in at paperchase and most christmas cards are going out this week, some are already available - i bought the one above, and a great bo lundberg design (see the next post). there are sure to be lots more great designs to come, so keep an eye on your local store if you live in the UK, or check back here for more reports as we head towards christmas.

bo lundberg

whilst in paperchase this saturday i looked at the newly laid out christmas cards and this one above lept straight out at me. it wasnt until i flipped it round that i then saw it was by one of my fave illustrators bo lundberg. i had to buy it. £3.00 for 8 cards and 50p goes to charity, to hearing dogs for deaf people. what a great buy!
my new christmas card is the perfect excuse to show more designs from the wonderful illustrator bo lundberg. who i believe reads print & pattern(fingers crossed)

FOCUS 2006 - swatch

one final design left to feature from last weeks focus exhibition, rainbow colours from 'jane churchill'.

DESIGNERS NEEDED

US based company 'rag & bone' are looking for pattern designs to give their company a new look that they intend to launch at the new york gift show in january. the companies president jason thompson is a regular reader of 'print & pattern' and hes become very interested in the kind of style of design we love here on the site.
just as a guide, the brief is to come up with designs in a modern pallet similar to that of orla kiely, snow & graham, and angela adams. (all print & pattern faves). they are scheduled to print the new designs on both fabrics and papers in December. this is a paying job, surface designers, illustrators, etc, who think they are suitable for rag and bone's needs are invited to submit designs. they are looking to expand their line beyond wedding and baby clients, which make up the bulk of our business currently. as jason says here they are looking to specially commission work; "There are of course many beautiful contemporary fabrics which we could purchase domestically which may be appropriate for our books, and this is something which we are still looking into. Our desire for our next batch of new cover options is to release a "collection" of six to eight cover options which work as individual pieces and as a group. Sourcing pre-printed fabrics may work, but we are most excited about manufacturing our own textiles and paper." click here for the website or email jason thompson for more info/submissions. jason@ragandbone.com. lets help rag and bone get their 'new look' with some great new designs. GOOD LUCK !

rag and bone also have their own blog - check here to find out more.

ILLUSTRATION

i was standing in a bookshop when i spotted a sweet illustration by nina chakrabarti on the cover of a novel (above). further research lead me to take a look at her work. i love these illustrations of flowers produced for top shop. the beautiful illustrations in situ at topshop.
as it turned out i had already featured nina's work here at print & pattern before, but i didnt know it. back in july i had admired the lovely packaging of cowshed products after seeing them in the conran shop. now i now know they were illustrated by nina chakrabarti.
