paperchase has a brand new spring range in which urges us to get 'INTO FLORAL'. this bright & cheery pattern can be found on files, folders, books, pens, and gift wraps.

a selection of prints from the latest collections by george available at asda stores. these images are from the george website, and the next post features snaps taken instore at asda.

there are some fabulous new prints from cath kidston being launched this week. new designs include bubble rose, rose maroc, and ric rac. there are these great new 'crush' mugs (below), and fantastic new 'buttercup' dinner set. lots to get excited about. view the website to see the wealth of products the new designs have been applied to.

meanwhile older cath kidston designs are being sold off in the sales - these are some snaps i took in the store last week. last chance to grab a bargain online or instore.

heres a bargain i picked up in the marylebone cath kidston store. pop flowers fabric covered box files.

this is the terrific work of designer maker poppy treffry, who is inspired by her cornish surroundings. she has a great range of hand stitched designs on bags, brooches, cushions and tea cosies, and below is a look at her studio.

continuing with exhibitors from top drawer, i wanted to post these colourful ceramics by ken eardley. lovely use of graphic flowers & leaves mixed with vivid colour.

some of the most exciting cards at top drawer were from designer petra boase. petra has been well known on the design scene for many years with her books and television appearances, and her range of cards just gets better and better.

one of the most beautiful stands at the show was that of danish company greengate who launched several new prints.

im starting today by looking at last weeks top drawer exhibition held at earls court in london. this twice yearly event is the place to see new cards, textiles, ceramics, gifts etc. these are a few snaps taken in the trend area, otherwise photography is pretty much frowned upon, but i will still post all the info i gathered on the day over the next few days. the products chosen to publicise the show on posters and guide books were cushions by sukie and miss print. i guess they felt the motifs and colours used on these designs had a spring like feeling.
above & below - nice pattern and colours on the carpets.
below various shots of the trend area display.

below a couple of nice adverts from the show guide, left c-maw right ronin
there were plenty of silhouette designs still going strong at top drawer so this trend shows no sign of fading just yet. one example were these lovely cards from rosehip.

i heard about gelaskins through great blog another shade of grey and loved this design called lollipops by dodeskaden.

super cool graphic mugs by toshihiro aoki for his company 'bluts'. as seen at zensuke.

or see them at sprout home where mugs are available for just $13.

graham & brown have launched a wonderful new range of wallpapers called the 'drama collection'. with names like phantom, evita, & saigon i love the fact that they are named after shows as ive always fancied doing that with my designs.

ive recently been looking at chiyogami papers on flickr, all these cute designs were found via the excellent links on chiyogami monday, this website will point you to all the best flickr collections.

some more delicious designs on paper by iota from papermojo
also below from papermojo two designs by whimsy press.

over the christmas holidays i added the list of links on the right to a series of key designers. these are people who have succeeded in the world of pattern design. ive included personal favourites like emma bridgewater who went it alone and launched her own designs to huge success, something all designers dream of. or people like jonathan adler who are able to influence trends with their designs. if you are not familiar with any of these designers click their website links (right), or for quick summaries just search key designers or their name for previous coverage in the blogger box at the top. ive recently 'aquired' all these terrific detailed images of the work of angela adams, so my new list is the perfect excuse to look at her fabulous work again. at the top is a beautiful new rug called 'arundel'. more on our other key designers coming soon.

this lovely pattern entitled 'wheels' by designer julia rothman was on top blog designsponge yesterday, click here to read all about it.

lovely new spring arrivals are in at urban outfitters. good to see that the print & pattern prediction for yellow and grey is starting to come through.

owls are still fabulously popular, and here in the UK the woodland trend is still breaking. this means its a great time to visit forest prints and see the work of designer lynda lye.

still on the woodland theme cute little items from my my. oops they are on winter break, but check their blog or flickr craft stall.

i thought i'd take a last look at the past season designs in monsoon and accessorize as their sale makes way for new spring goodies and these items are cleared out.

i never really veer off topic here at print & pattern, but today i just had to. i wanted to wish happy birthday to my hero DAVID BOWIE who turns 60 today. after all i stole my blogger pseudonym from this man (bowiestyle incidently is a book by mark paytress, i was looking for a name whilst signing up and happened to glance over at the bookshelf). david bowie is a singer, musician, actor, artist, style icon and legend....many happy returns.
